*** Breaking News - LEVELLING UP BOLSOVER ***
The Chancellor has JUST announced £15 million for Bolsover to support the regeneration of the Town Centre!
The funding will support small businesses and regenerate our town centre to make it a more vibrant, convenient, and exciting place at the heart of our local community, as well as attracting tourists into our town.
** LEVELLING UP FOR BOLSOVER **
Since being elected I have worked and campaigned to ensure Bolsover receives funding to regenerate the town to help it fulfil its immense potential as a tourism centre, improve it's offering to our local community, attract investment and improve employment opportunities locally.
I was delighted that The Bolsover School's bid to build a new Sixth Form in the town was successful earlier this year and work continues at pace to deliver this project. I'm also pleased that the town will have a new Dentist opening early next year, after the disappointing closure of the Bupa Practice in the Summer.
Unfortunately the Levelling Up bid for Bolsover Town Centre, submitted by Bolsover District Council, was unsuccessful, for a variety of reasons which I have previously outlined.
I have been working extremely hard in the background to ensure that our communities do not continue to miss out, so I am delighted to have received a letter from the Levelling Up Minister today confirming that £15 million of capital funding has been provisionally awarded to the Town. The Chancellor confirmed the funding in his Autumn Statement today where he stated "Today I can also confirm we will proceed with over £50million of funding for high-quality regeneration projects in communities such as Bolsover [...] all of which have particularly effective local MPs as their champions"
I will be working closely with Bolsover District Council, the Department for Levelling Up and other partners, to ensure that we deliver on this investment and create a better Bolsover for our communities.
