Maid Marian Line & Pinxton Station

In the summer of 2020, myself and Cllr Steve Fritchley, Leader of Bolsover District Council, signed a joint letter in support of the reopening of the Maid Marian Line and agreed a list of priorities for the District, including the creation of a new station for Pinxton.

In November 2020, the Department for Transport (DfT) awarded Ashfield District Council (ADC) £50,000 to progress plans to reinstate historic stations and restore passenger services closed during the 1960s Beeching cuts. The proposal unfortunately failed to proceed to the final round of the Restoring Your Railways Fund, however, the Government awarded £1 to the East Midlands Development Company (EM DevCo) to further develop the proposals as part of the wider Midlands rail plan.

I continue to work with local MPs, ADC, Bolsover District Council, Nottinghamshire County Council and Derbyshire County Council to support the project during the next stages. To read more about the campaign please visit: https://www.mark-fletcher.org.uk/campaigns/robin-hood-and-maid-marian-l…

South Normanton Town Centre

I am working with local councillors to help regenerate the town centre by making improvements to the public realm and facilitating business and market growth.

Resolving Smotherfly

Residents have told me many stories about the history of the Cromford Canal and surrounding walkways in Pinxton. I am working with Derbyshire County Council and local groups to help restore these great natural sites for the local community to enjoy.

Junction 28 in its current state is not fit for purpose. Residents in South Normanton and Pinxton continue to experience congestion on a daily basis and only 9% of people in my recent survey said they thought the junction is ‘safe’ or ‘very safe’.

It was an honour to take part in the Remembrance Day parade in Bolsover this morning to lay a wreath at the Cenotaph in remembrance of all those who gave so much. Thank you to everyone for attending, it was lovely to see so many from our community come to pay their respects.
